Last May, Hogshead Brewery rolled out its Charity Wednesday series. 28 events and 40 guest bartenders later, Hogshead is pleased to announce that more than $12,000 was raised to benefit local charities and causes. Now the hope is to eclipse $20,000 in 2019.
“The idea for Charity Wednesday emerged after learning the young daughter of one of our loyal patrons was diagnosed with cancer,” said Hogshead Manager, David Liechty. “The initial intent was to help his family, however, Charity Wednesday rapidly evolved into a weekly philanthropy event for all people and all causes. The 2018 Charity Wednesday culminated with pulling pints for this family.”
“We had so much fun guest bartending a Charity Wednesday at Hogshead,” said Marjorie Scott who will be returning to kick off the 2019 series. “Friends, family and coworkers turned out for a wonderful evening and ended up raising more than $700 for Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network!”
The following charities and causes received donations from the 2018 series: Death Ride Tour Inc, Audubon Society of Greater Denver, Round Up River Ranch, Explore and Discover, Brent’s Place, American Civil Liberties Union, Sprout City Farms, Mile High Weimaraner Rescue, Weecycle Diaper Bank, 10th Mountain Division, Alzheimers, ALS, Cystic Fibrosis, Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network, Clayton Early Learning, The Wishbone Foundation, Rock the Earth, After Hours Denver, Tennyson House, The Gathering Place, Morgan Adams Foundation, Strive Preparatory School, Animal Rescue Of The Rockies, Leukemia, Grayhound foundation, and RM Feline Rescue
The second Charity Wednesday series will launch May 15, 2019, and guest bartending spots are already filling up from returning guest bartenders as well as new faces. With proceeds based on beer sales, and guest aletender tips.
